1936年的法國，位在巴黎一角的“新天堂劇院”，因為老闆向黑道借高利貸，資金週轉不靈，而不得不宣告歇業；在劇院待了大半輩子的畢哥也就此失業。
但畢哥的厄運還不止於此，相依為命的兒子因無力扶養，被社會局給送回母親身邊。離別之際他向兒子承諾，一定會努力工作使兩人再團聚！
為了重振新天堂劇院，畢哥與劇場的兩個老同事，米魯與賈基，三人下定決心一同努力。果然三個臭皮匠勝過一個諸葛亮，大夥想出奇招，找來美麗的歌舞女郎杜絲，用音樂歌舞為號召重新開張。但好的開始未必一定走向成功，美麗的杜絲與新奇的表演，引來當初出借高利貸的黑道大哥，想插手分杯羹，而共同奮鬥的夥伴們也意見紛歧…
儘管面臨了如此棘手的問題，儘管未來似乎仍茫茫未知，但畢哥還是抱著打不退的堅毅樂觀精神，要再次為自己贏回工作與兒子…
